Says it's cruelty-free. Not certified yet.
Weleda's own FAQ (Weleda Spain) says its products are dermatologically tested but never on animals, a policy since its founding in 1921 that also covers ingredients and suppliers. It says it sells in China only online, through a Hong Kong cross-border company, which avoids China's animal-test rule for shop sales. It isn't certified by Leaping Bunny / Cruelty Free International, and PETA says it may not be cruelty-free because it hasn't signed PETA's statement. So this is the brand's word only.
Does Weleda test on animals?
Weleda says it doesn't test on animals, but it isn't certified, so nobody independent has checked. What it says is below.
What they say: Its own site says: "Todos los productos de Weleda son testados dermatológicamente, pero nunca en animales." (All Weleda products are dermatologically tested, but never on animals.)
What that means: Weleda isn't certified by Leaping Bunny / Cruelty Free International or PETA yet, so nobody independent has checked this. Plenty of honest brands haven't applied, and some products, like paper goods, don't fit the main schemes well. It's the brand's word, so the choice is yours.
